Privacy policy
What we collect when you ask for a quote, who handles it, and what you can ask us to do with it.

What this covers
This policy applies to myspanishinsurance.com. It explains what happens to the information you give us when you ask for a quote, and what we do with the far smaller amount collected automatically when you simply read a page.
Who we are
myspanishinsurance.com is owned and operated by Neil Peter Osborne, an individual insurance distributor established in Spain, trading as 247 Expat Insurance. He is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy.
- Registered address: C. Alcalde Clemente García, 19, 5, 30169 San Ginés, Murcia, Spain

What we collect
When you ask for a quote. What you enter on the form: your name and contact details, and the information that particular quote needs. That varies by product and can include the ages and dates of birth of the people to be covered, the province you live in, your nationality, an identification number, details of a vehicle or a property, and — where the cover is health, dental or funeral — information about health.
Health information. The law treats health data as a special category and so do we. We ask for it only where a quote cannot be prepared without it, we ask for it separately rather than folding it into everything else, and we rely on your explicit agreement to handle it.
Automatically. The standard technical information any browser sends. Beyond that, nothing is collected about how you use the site unless you have agreed to it — see the cookie policy.
Who handles it
Quote forms on this site submit to HubSpot, the system we use to receive and manage enquiries. HubSpot acts as our processor and handles the data on our instructions.
You should know two things about that arrangement. The HubSpot account is shared with two related businesses, Spanish Health Insurance and 247 Expat Insurance. And HubSpot processes data outside the European Economic Area, in the United States.
We do not sell your data and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.
Why we are allowed to hold it
- To answer your enquiry and prepare a quote — because you asked us to, and because handling the request is a necessary step before any contract.
- Health information — on the basis of the explicit agreement you give when you submit it.
- To understand how the site is used — only where you have agreed to analytics, and you can withdraw that at any time.
- To meet obligations the law places on us, including keeping records where we are required to.
We do not make automated decisions about you and we do not profile you.
How long we keep it
We keep an enquiry for as long as it takes to deal with it and for a reasonable period afterwards, so that we can pick up a conversation you return to and deal with any question about what was said. Where a policy results, records are kept for the period the law requires of that kind of record. We are working towards publishing a specific period for each category and will state them here when we do.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, to correct it, to erase it, to restrict or object to what we do with it, and to receive it in a portable form. Where we rely on your agreement you can withdraw it at any time, and withdrawing it does not affect anything done before you did.
Write to info@247expatinsurance.com and we will deal with it within the period the law allows.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle it you can complain to the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos at aepd.es, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Changes
We update this page when what we do changes, and the review date at the top moves with it. Where a change is material we say so rather than relying on you noticing a date.
