What to have ready
Two minutes of gathering makes the difference between a rough figure and a useful one.
- Ages and dates of birth for everyone to be covered.
- The province you live in, or will live in.
- Whether the policy is needed for a visa or residence application, and which route.
- Any condition that has been diagnosed, treated or investigated — for anyone on the policy.
- Whether you want cover with or without copayments.
- Any existing policy you hold, and when it renews.
Why the health questions matter more here than the price ones
A health quote is not a price lookup. It is the first step of underwriting, and what you say now decides what the policy does later.
Insurers ask a health questionnaire (cuestionario de salud) before the contract is concluded, and the duty is limited to the questions the insurer asks — answer those truthfully according to what you know, and you are not expected to volunteer circumstances the questionnaire does not cover. Where an answer turns out to be inaccurate or incomplete, a claim arising before the insurer acts on it may be reduced proportionally, and total release from paying is reserved for fraud or gross fault. Being thorough now is what produces a policy that responds later.
A declared condition can be accepted, excluded, accepted on additional terms, or accepted with a loading. Those are four different outcomes and only one of them is the one people assume. Knowing which applies is the point of asking properly.
If the cover is for a visa or residence application, say so and say which route at the outset. The requirements are set by the consulate or office handling your application, they differ between them, and they change — so knowing the route narrows what is worth quoting at all. Whatever we quote, check it against the current published checklist for your own application before you rely on it.
Asking for a quote commits you to nothing. We do not need payment details to prepare one, and nothing is arranged until you say so.
